Infant and Child CPR

 

 

           Purpose

Train parents and caregivers to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations and to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in infants and children.

           Prerequisites

None

           Learning Objectives

Identify how to reduce the risk of injury to infants and children. 

Learn how to care for an infant or child who has stopped breathing. 

Learn how to care for an infant or child who is choking. 

Learn how to give CR to an infant or child whose heart has stopped beating. 

Identify how to use your community’s emergency medical services (EMS) system effectively.

           Length

Approximately 5 hours.

           Certification Requirements

Attend all class sessions. 

Successfully complete all skills outlined in the course. 

Pass a written test with a minimum grade of 80 percent or better for all components.

           Certification

Infant and Child  CPR certificate valid for one year.
